When Summer is here, people do repetitive, boring things — laying down by the beach or on their balcony to get tan, picnic, and hiking. You can do those stuff, but not on repeat. Spend your summer time wisely, especially when you are in Vancouver. Do blueberry picking!
"My last meal on Earth, I would love it to be a bowl of blueberries with cold cream." —Rene Redzepi
Last Summer, I went blueberry picking at Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery located in Langley, BC (just about 40 minutes to an hour drive from Vancouver to Langley). When I first arrived with my friends, we went straight to the cafe first because they sell corn pizza and waffles with fresh blueberries and whipped cream on top. At first I don't really like the idea of putting corn as a topping on pizza but it blown me away. It was incredible. The waffles are delicious — the blueberries were sweet, and huge, combined with whipped cream, and it was perfect.
After we filled our stomach with food and our body with energy, we went to buy basket for $1 CAD each to put the blueberries after we pick it. Then we waited for the mini bus to come and pick us up to go to the blueberry picking garden because at Krause, there are several berries picking (strawberries, raspberries) not just blueberries.
I picked lots of blueberries. They're not the normal blueberry size, it was gigantic yet super sweet. I was having a lot of fun despite the summer heat that made me sweat and tired but it was totally worth it. I would definitely come back this summer!
