Italian cuisine has always been my go-to food, other than French and Japanese. It can be creamy, smokey, or just simply full of cheese, and herbs. Italian food is very authentic, yet it can also be flavourful.
“Italian food is bold and satisfying without being heavy. It’s rich and textural and uses a whole palette of flavors,” —Michael Chiarello
Here's the best Italian restaurant that I ever tasted in Vancouver:
CinCin Ristorante + Bar
It's a hidden winding peachy-pink stone stairway leads upward from the crowded Robson street, where CinCin is located. When me and my boyfriend took a glance of the staircase, it felt like we were in Italy. The romantic architecture, the elegant music that escorted you all the way up to the restaurant, gave me a dazzling feeling. We came in and the staff greeted us which such a warm smile.
There are two options of seating at CinCin — the terrace or the dining room. The terrace is the popular choice because you can see the beautiful sunset and downtown Vancouver. But the dining room is not as bad, it's authentic — decorated with Italian paintings, vintage tones of colours, and romantic lighting. I chose the dining room because it feels like you are having a fancy dinner with your love one in Italy.
The waitress took us to our spot and we start off by ordering my favourite white wine — Chardonnay. I ordered their wood grilled sea scallops with acquerello risotto, preserved meyer lemon, herbs, and parmesan lace and my boyfriend ordered the pasta: linguine pomodoro with wild caught blue shrimp, calabrian chili, garlic, and fresh basil. The risotto consist of two scallops, but the waiter was kindly enough to suggest me to add one more scallop so it will be the perfect amount for the risotto.
After we ordered our food, they gave us four kinds of bread which was delicious. For your information, I'm a sucker for bread. Then our main course came in, it was perfetto! No other words can describe both dishes because it's so good. For dessert, we shared honey muscovado panna cotta — poached quince, caramelized pain, perdu, bergamot, chocolate citrus crunch. It's a dessert but it didn't feel unhealthy because it's so fresh and not too sweet either. It's was incredible. Our stomach were already felt so full and the chef still gave us both complimentary desserts — madeleine and jelly candy coated with sugar. I will definitely come back to CinCin Ristorante + Bar. It was a really nice experience.
